Mark J. Tager, MD

Dr. Tager is President and CEO of ChangeWell, a training and publishing company serving the corporate marketplace with products and services that help people achieve great performance. He received his medical degree from Duke University and trained in Family Practice at the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center. Early in his career he served as medical director of Electroscientific Industries, and as Director of Health Promotion for Kaiser Permanente in Portland, Oregon where he was responsible for creating wellness, occupational health and safety programs for subscribing employers. In addition, he wrote a syndicated newspaper column entitled, "The Wellness Bag", and produced early cable health programming for ABC Video Enterprises.

Dr. Tager founded Great Performance, Inc., a successful communications company that he ran for ten years before it was acquired by Times Mirror/ Mosby.  As Sr. Vice President of Business Development for Mosby Consumer Health he was responsible for establishing disease management, self-care, and informed decision making programs in partnership with leading domestic and international companies such as the American Heart Association, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Eli Lilly.

After leaving Mosby, Dr. Tager served as President of Risk Data, a division of HNC Software in San Diego, and as a consultant to a variety of medical device, e-health, nutrition and training-related companies.

As an entrepreneur, Dr. Tager has built successful businesses and managed high performance teams. As a consultant to and employee with large corporations, he has served as an effective change agent and visionary. As an educator, he has created dozens of wellness-oriented training programs for consumers and provessionals. As a physician, he understands the unique dynamic that is at the center of health and well-being. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and Central America. He is widely recognized as a dynamic and engaging presenter and speaker. Dr. Tager has co-authored six books including Leadership in Times of Stress and Change (with Harry Woodward), PowerSource, Working Well: Managing for Health & High Performance (with Marjorie Blanchard), Planning For Wellness, Designing Effective Health Promotion Programs, and Whole Person Healthcare. He lives outside of San Diego with his wife Carol, his children James and Marissa, and their English Springer Spaniel, Patches.
